Pin up shoot FAQ:
Q: What is included with the shoot?
A: If you look at the pakcages page you will get a good idea of what is included!
Q: Can curvy or bigger girls shoot?
A: UH YEAH! We love our plus ladies, curves are always welcome!
Q: Are tattoos, piercings, or fashion colored hair acceptable?
A: TOTALLY.
Q: I have a really modern haircut, or a really short haircut, can I still pull off a pin up look?
A: My stylists are kind of amazing, they have done some awesome styles with very little hair to work with. If you are really worried you are welcome to bring tracks of human hair extensions to add to your hair. Or she can style you with a hairscarf to hide that you have shorter hair. Or just rock it! More power to you!
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: I'm normally booking weekend dates 1 to 2 months in advance, and weekdays anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months in advance. So if you want photos for a
birthday/anniversary gift, or for holidays, please book in advance!! If you need them sooner than that I can work with you on a date, just write me.
Q: What should I do to prepare for the shoot?
A: You should come with CLEAN DRY HAIR and no make up. There will be an extra charge to blow dry your hair,and if your hair is greasey your curls will not hold!
Your nails and toes should be painted to match in an era appropriate color. (You can't go wrong with reds or light pinks.)
Shave all areas that need shaving of course! Bring along any heels you own that are classic in style. I supply some shoes but I don't carry all sizes. At least bring a black pair, no pointy toe shoes, peeptoes are fine! If you have more colors bring as many as you like! Also bring along any outfits/lingerie of your own that you may want to include in your shoot. If you want to wear a garter belt for lingerie shots, or just the peek-a-book garter shot under a dress or skirt you'll need to bring thigh highs, nude goes with everything but if you know you want to wear darker color clothing black or fishnet is fine. Avoid lace tops and rubber grips if you can. The backseamed stocking have more of a retro look. They are hard to find locally sometimes, I do sell nude vintage style stockings with black backseams for $15 at the studio. I don't always have them in stock
so be sure to ask before your shoot just in case. You should also bring payment since it is due on the day of your shoot. Also if you plan on wearing any lingerie from the wardrobe you will want to bring a small nude pair of underwear to wear underneath. Also a strapless bra may come in handy.
You MUST provide your own make up concearler. If you don't own any please pick some up before your shoot.
Also please wear loose fitting clothes to not leave marks on your skin (for example avoid tight jeans) and a loose neck or button down shirt so you can change with out hurting your hairstyle too much.
Q: Is there a deposit?
A: Yes, $100 is due with in 7 days of booking your shoot. Please only contact to book when you are ready with your deposit. Kids shoots do not require a deposit, all other shoots do.
Q: Speaking of rescheduling, when should I let you know if I can't make it to the shoot?
A: 24 hours atleast notice would be great, but I know things happen last minute. I ask that if you please let me know (even for consultations) that you cant make it as soon as possible. Especially when I have a hairstylist coming for your shoot.
Q. I'm running late, sorry I guess?
CALL ME, at least give me a heads up, if you're around 30 mins late, my stylists leaves and you're out of luck. You should have my cell number in the shoot information I provide you.
Q: Can I bring a friend along to my shoot?
A: Yes you may! But please only one. I do ask that your friend DOES NOT try to control your posing. I don't mind if they make small suggestions, but you've hired me to make you look like a pin-up, not your friend. Also your friend will not be allowed to pose in any photos with you. If you want to do photos with your friends you must sign up for a gal pal shoot. Men are NOT ALLOWED at special event shoots, they are welcome if you have booked a private shoot. Special event shoots will have other women who may be uncomfortable by their presence, please be considerate of this!
Q: What if my friend and I want to do photos on the same day but don't want to do the gal pal package?
A: You can book different packages and still come in together on the same day.
Q: Wardrobe is included?
A: Yes! I have a pretty wide selection of vintage and vintage inspired clothing and lingerie up to a size 16 with a few options in size 20. I have lingerie, dresses, swimwear, tops, sweaters, some high waisted shorts, and lots of accessories. We do not provide mens or boys wardrobe (I can help you figure out what to wear if you ask, let me know!) We do have a small wardrobe of girls clothing, and of course ton's of womens wardrobe.
Q: Where are you located?
A: I have a home studio located on the North east side of Lansing not far from the Frandor area. I will send you my address once we book your consultation.
Q: Whoa, home studio?
A: Yes, my home studio does include my six furry cats and my wonderful husband. But no, you will not see his handsome face any point during your shoot. My cats however will be around! If you have allergies please let me know! I can keep them out of the room and vacuum the house really well. Also the "pin up room" where you will be getting ready for your shoot is upstairs, so if you have any restrictions please let me know before your consultation. When you come for both your shoot and consultation please park in the street on the side my house is on.
Q: Is an in person consultation included?
A: It is but only for the Lucy pin up package and higher. I will request for you to come 20-15 mins in advance if your package requires more time to pick wardrobe day of. I have a large selection and if you bring what is listed above you should be fine. Keep in mind if you are size 22 or higher you may want to bring a couple options of your own, as I do not have many options near this size yet. If you are really nervous and would like to book a consultation even though your package does not include it you can do so for an extra $50. A consultation will help us both prepare for your shoot, we'll pick out backgrounds/sets, pick out your wardrobe, talk about themes/poses you might like to try, and talk about hairsytles. And it will give you a chance to see the studio in person. We can do a consultation through email if you're not through the area and plan everything out the best we can. Giving up your consultation will not lower the price. The consultation is free and a courtesy to prepare you for your shoot if you are booking the Lucy package or higher.
Q: How should I pay you?
A: Cash & Checks, checks can be made out to Autumn Luciano Photography.
Paypal payments can be sent to me, talk to me for details on that. If you pay check the day of the shoot be sure to bring two check, as you pay photographer and hairstylist seperately. For event shoots we request that you please pay in cash if at all possible. There is a $100 fee for all bounced checks to be paid before you recieve your digital photos.
Q: Do you take other types of photos?
A: Yes! I do a variety of different shoots and styles, write me with what you have in mind. I am currently only booking weddings for friends. But I do offer bridal packages that include all sorts of fun things, including a photo booth at your wedding! Check out the Bridal fun link at the top of the page!
Q: I want my photo taken but I don't want them to be displayed, is that okay?
A: Yes of course, I will only put your photos online if you sign a model release forum.
Q: I've never modeled, are you sure I can do this?
A: You do not need to know anything about modeling. I can coach you through the whole thing. Researching pin up posing and facial expressions before hand will make you 100% more confident. I do my best to make all my clients look amazing, and I will do the same
for you. But I cannot fix a bad self image. But please keep in mind, this is suppose to be a fun experience, so if you relax and are not too serious, your photos will turn out beautifully.
Q: Ok we've done the photos, now what?
A: Now I retouch the images, I will run over everything with you after the shoot but the run down is: It is normally 1-2 weeks, if it will be any longer I will let you know. If you need them by a certain date please let me know. You will get a link emailed to you to your own gallery where you can download the images and printing rights (included) and you have the option to order prints right in the gallery. You do not get all your unretouched images, you get the best shot of each pose (normally the one I show you on the camera while we are shooting, if you are unhappy with it speak up then and we will reshoot it!) retouched and looking fabulous!
Q: What happens if i'm sick or hung over?
A: RESCHEDULE. It will be obvious in your photos that you aren't at your best. And that's not what you want. Please take note that there is a $50 rescheduling fee if you reschedule less than two weeks in advance for weekday appointments, and $70 for weekend appointments.
Q: I've got some of my grandmother's/mother's old stuff that would be great in your shoots, do you take donations?
A: Yes! I'm always very thankful for any donations in props or costumes that you would like to give, I don't have a use for everything. So if you're not sure
if i'd need it or if its a large item you can email me a photo.
Q: Do you photoshop the "bad" stuff out?
A: Yes I will clear up any skin flaws. You can point out certain marks that you would like to keep in your photos, Otherwise they will be edited out.
I can smooth out and bulges and bumps as well.
Q: Whats the deal on jewelry?
A: One set of earrings is fine. As long as they are period appropriate. All other piercings should be removed unless you are doing a more modern pin up shoot, or if they are fresh piercings, in which case I will edit them out when requested. Avoid a lot of rings, and any sort of modern jewelry will not work if you are going for a classic pin up look.
Q: I really like your on-location photos, how do I get some of those?
A: Check out the events shoots page. On locations shoots will be listed there as we book them. If you have a location that you would like me to set up an all day
pin up shoot that can be arranged, we need to book at least 7 girls for shoots like that. You can offer spots to your friends first and if we don't fill up I will open the
remaining spots to the public.
Q: I've spread clothes all over your house! Do you need help cleaning up?
A: No, I know where everything goes and this is your day, you shouldn't be cleaning! I only ask that as you change outfits you re-hang-up the previous one.
Q: Can I bring a pet to be in my photos?
A: Yes, just please let me know in advance! Be sure to bring them in a crate. Or for dogs have a chain and collar so we can put them out backyard while we finish your photos. If dogs are hyper it may help to bring a friend to help us wrangle them while shooting.
There is a $30 charge to add an animal (pet animal), unless they are a small animal like a bunny/guinea pig, snake, etc. Cats and dogs tend to be a little more nervous or excited in a new house, you know your pet best, if the experience is going to be too stressful on them they're going to be happier staying home.
Q: Can I bring my own music?
A: I'll admit, i'm a music snob. Anything period appropriate is fine. But anything else please leave for the ride home.
Q: When do I get my photos back?
A: It varies depending on my work load, normally 1-2 weeks.
Q: Do you barter?
A: Yes, depending on what you are offering. I have all the hair cuts and dyes I need. But anything else feel free to email me. The worst I can say is no.
